Google's new Places with Hotspot App

Google has just released its new Google places with Hotpot for the iPhone and Android which allows you to see places to go to like restaurants, bars, hotels etc.
However, there's nothing special about this app, nor does it bring anything special. The only noteworthy feature is that you can see what places your friends have recommended.
Google should stick to what they're good at and buy stuff which has potential to go big instead of recreating the same old stuff.
