Rumor : Google Planning to take on Facebook

Digg founder Kevin Rose Tweeted that Google is launch its new social networking site which will go toe-to-toe against Facebook.

Google has been on a role lately, however when it comes to Social Networking Google has fallen short, as their last venture, Google buzz was a failure and its privacy issues turned into a complete fiasco.

The latest social networking venture will be known as "Google Me"

In my honest opinion, Google won't be able to touch Facebook unless it has some super cool omgwtf feature in its site.

In the end, lets not forget the fact that this is just a rumor and there has been no official announcement by Google about Google Me.

Keep visiting Switter Paddle to get the latest updates on Google Me.

A Poorly Made Yet Awesome Twilight Spoof

A friend of mine recently shared this video on Facebook in which Count Dracula pretends to be Edward Cullen just to get it on with Bella.

The Video is so funny that I feel it needs its own blog post. It looks rushed and poorly made but the dialogues are pretty funny and kept me laughing throughout. Its a real shame it doesn't have voice overs. If properly made this video would have been an instant hit. Nonetheless, Check it out !

Remebering Bob Marley

Google Launches Chrome OS Beta

Google has seriously been on a role lately, with its Android 2.3 OS, The Google Nexus S, the new Google E-Book store and now The launch of the Chrome OS Beta.

Many people were disappointed by the fact that they would have to wait till mid 2011 to get their hands on the Google Chrome OS but those who wish to do testing and give feedback to Google can get their hands on the Beta OS.

The OS has been designed to exclusively work with online applications and is for those who spend majority of their computer time on the internet.

What sets this OS apart from the others is the mere fact that it can boot up in 7 seconds. For people like myself who fall asleep while watching their computers boot up, that fact alone makes this OS worth using. The best part being that Google has said that they will reduce the 7 second boot time.

The most disappointing thing about the OS is that it will be available only on specific hardware, which in my opinion, is a pretty bad idea (Somebody should learn from Apple's mistake).

The OS is based on simplicity and takes a minimalist approach so one can expect the OS to be light and fast.

Google has taken a huge slice of the pie in almost every market. Lets see how they do in the OS market!

First Look At Transformers 3

Transformers 3, the final installment in the series, set to release in July 2011 will be in 3D !

Fans of the movie will be disappointed to hear that the character of Megan Fox has been dropped as the makers of the movie decided that the on-screen couple would "risk getting stale".

Megan Fox will be replaced by Victoria's Secret model Rosie Alice Huntington-Whiteley(Thats a pretty friggin long name!).

The first trailer of the movie was recently released which uses Apollo 11’s 1969 moon landing in which the famous line “You won’t believe what we’re seeing.” was used. Shia Lebeouf and the chick with the really long name were nowhere to be seen in the trailer and I found it pretty boring.

Anyway, Here's the first look at Transformers 3!!!

Cataclysm has finally arrived

Cataclysm, the long awaited 3rd expansion of Blizzard's World Of Warcraft has finally arrived. The new expansion is mostly focused on remaking the level 1-60 areas, which majority would agree, had become stale and not worth giving any attention to.

The previous expansion Wrath of the Lich King had the game's difficultly levels toned down to make the game easier and friendlier for the average player, which resulted in many hardcore players complaining about the game and quitting WoW.

Cataclysm is a welcome change and will probably result in many players returning to the World Of Warcraft. Many hope that this expansion will rejuvenate the WoW experience with its changes to the old world as well as new additions to the game.

Many people have started calling the expansion World of Warcraft 2 due to the complete revamp of almost everything in the original game.

WoW players all over the world have prepared to-do lists of things that they're sharing on the internet comprising of a list of things to do after the release of the expansion since there is just too much to do!

Cataclysm is a do or die thing for Blizzard and I, personally feel that WoW will rise even higher with this new expansion.

Google to Launch E-Book store

Google has been on a role recently with the release of Gingerbread and the announcement of the Google Nexus S. But it appears that these aren't the only big announcements google has made today. Google announced that it is going to take on Amazon and Apple with its new E-Book store. The store features 3 million books out of which 2.8 million are free.

So what makes the Google E-Book store different?

The biggest advantage of the new book store is the fact that it is available on almost every device unlike Amazon and Apple's book stores which are only available on Amazon's Kindle and Apple's iPod/iPad. Another advantage is the fact that the Google E-Book store is the biggest E-Book store in the history of the world and lets not forget about the free books part. Who can resist the word free?

With the latest addition the Google E-Book store it appears that the 3 giants will battle it out for book selling supremacy. Lets see how Apple and Amazon stand their ground against the biggest E-Book store in the world.

Introducing the Google Nexus S

Google just announced the new Android 2.3 OS aka Gingerbread and the Google Nexus S, The 1st phone which comes with Gingerbread.

Here's what Google said on its blog about the phone.

Nexus S is the first smartphone to feature a 4” Contour Display designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand and along the side of your face. It also features a 1GHz Hummingbird processor, front and rear facing cameras, 16GB of internal memory, and NFC (near field communication) hardware that lets you read information from NFC tags. NFC is a fast, versatile short-range wireless technology that can be embedded in all kinds of everyday objects like movie posters, stickers and t-shirts.

Gingerbread is the fastest version of Android yet, and it delivers a number of improvements, such as user interface refinements, NFC support, a new keyboard and text selection tool, Internet (VoIP/SIP) calling, improved copy/paste functionality and gyroscope sensor support.

WikiLeaks Has Been Taken Down! Or Has It ?

WikiLeaks, "The Mother of All Controversies" as I like to call it, was given the boot by its web-hosts everydns.net and Amazon.
The reason given by everydns.net for taking it down was, "These attacks have, and future attacks would, threaten the stability of the EveryDNS.net infrastructure, which enables access to almost 500,000 other websites."
However, Amazon denied that there were any DoS(Denial of Service) attacks or pressure from the US Government. Amazon stated WikiLeaks had violated its terms of service by publishing the leaked documents as it did not “own or otherwise control all the rights to this classified content.”

But WikiLeaks was probably prepared for such a thing, as they moved to Switzerland within a few hours. WikiLeaks is now up and running and its new URL can be found on its Twitter page.

Man these guys have seriously pissed people off!

NASA Finds New Life Form

Reports state that NASA is holding a special news conference to announce their latest find. The announcement states that NASA has found a bacteria whose DNA is completely alien to what we know today. Instead of using phosphorus, the bacteria uses arsenic.

What separates this life form from the rest is the fact that its DNA blocks are completely different from every type of life form known to mankind, which share similar DNA blocks.

Details of this phenomenon have not been disclosed yet and we'll have to wait for NASA's press conference to find out the details.

And the Winners are.....

RUSSIA and QATAR !!

The results are in and the two countries of Russia and Qatar have been decided to host the 2018 and 2022 World Cup respectively.

FIFA World Cup 2018/2022

The FIFA World cup, which happens to be the world's most popular and viewed event is what everyone's buzzing about today. Why? Because, today's the day when countries bid their final pleas to be able to host the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup. The host for 2014 is Brazil which was announced on 7 March 2003 in case you're wondering .

For 2018, the countries competing for the honor of hosting the World Cup are England, Spain/Portugal, Russia and Belgium/Netherlands. Whereas, for 2022 the countries competing happen to be Australia, the United States, South Korea, Japan and Qatar.

Of course, like almost every event in the world there had to be some sort of controversy surrounding the World Cup bidding. Reyland Temarri a French FIFA vice-president, and Amos Adamu a Nigerian member on the committee, were suspended after an investigation according to which they had agreed to vote for countries bidding for the World Cup in exchange for cash.

Another fact about the 2018 World Cup is that the number of bids recieved for it have made it the most contested bid in FIFA's history.

I''ll write an update as soon as the winner is announced. Lets see who wins.

Why the 90s Rocked.

The trending topic on Twitter today is #why90srocked.

Being one of the lucky ones who grew up in the 90s. I made a whole list of what made the 90s so awesome.

In random order.

  1. Kids would go out and play actual games like dodge ball and hide and seek instead of their consoles.
  2. Nickelodeon.
  3. The Power Rangers.
  4. Cartoon Network didn't suck.
  5. Games like sonic and pacman.
  6. Chatrooms ;)
  7. RAP didn't completely suck back then.
  8. Bill Clinton
  9. DOOM-2.
  10. R.L STINE !
  11. There was no Twilight *shudders*.
  12. Metallica didn't suck!
  13. Kids didn't whine all day long about their "sucky" lives on Twitter.
  14. Slinky Toys were cool.
  15. The WWF vs WCW Monday Night Wars - My personal Fav!

The SmartPhone Wars

Nowadays its all about your iPhones, Blackberries or Android powered phones. I can understand why everyone's barking mad about smartphones, Having the whole digital world in the palm of your hands while on the go is something I never imagined would be possible back when i was a kid. Technology really is amazing.

My thoughts on Blackberry:

When the Research-In-Motion came out with its BlackBerry smartphones its PIN messaging and push email revolutionized the mobile world. Besides those one could use MSN, Yahoo, Gtalk etc as well. However, times have become difficult for RIM as their Blackberry smartphones no longer offer something new. Almost everything the BlackBerry smartphone offers, Every smartphone offers the same or even more features. Unless RIM pulls of something huge BlackBerries are no longer gonna be the big thing. Good luck RIM!

Arab Street Fighter

So some random guy shared this link on my Facebook wall. Its pretty freakin' hilarious. Laughed like crazy. I don't see how any Arab would get offended by the video its pretty funny. The only thing wrong with the video is that its called Street Fighter, has a Street Fighter theme, has Street Fighter music BUT its actually Mortal Kombat if you pay close attention to the moves. Then there's the fatality in the ending. Enjoy !!

Bieber Bieber Bieber Bieber

WTF is wrong with the online world. All those Bieber fan-girls on Twitter are one thing but every single YouTube video related to music I've opened in the past few days has a bunch of anti-Bieber retards whining. Seriously people! If you don't like the kid pretend he doesn't exist instead of going out of your way to spread crap about him.

Sometimes I think its a new publicity stunt just to get more attention.

WikiLeaks

WikiLeaks oh WikiLeaks what have thy done !?

WikiLeaks, a project of the Sunshine Press has been the center of controversy with their documents revealing information which always leads to a political fiasco.

However, its nothing new for those of us who follow world politics. Most of the data leaked by WikiLeaks is information most of us are already speculating on. So its no shocker to find out about stuff when its leaked out. Its more of a "AHA!!! I KNEW IT !!"

All in all, the latest documents regarding Pakistan, Iran and the Saudis have caused quite a stir in the Muslim world and have been a real thorn at the USA's side.
